Reaching High

The spire reaches into the sky.

Like our dreams and hopes.

Each promise a better tomorrow.

Christmas

It's a time to reflect, to dream, to do some good.

The year is almost over.

There has been much accomplished

and still much to do.

Each memory of the year cherished.

Each sad moment wiped away; each great moment magnified.

Each friendship remembered.

Each journey documented for the generations that follow.

Wonder

How often does the greatness of creation pass us by? How often are we so caught up with the work that surround us that we forget to appreciate people and our surroundings?

Pause. Stop and smell the flowers.

Purple Memories

So much of our lives are centered around the dominant primary colours of red, yellow and blue.

We sometimes forget about the lavender, the beige, the turquoise, the amber...

We do the same with people.

Seeing only some and not paying attention to others.

Time to think deeply and reflect a lot.

Waiting

Like a beacon in the night, I wait.
Some days, the promised dawn arrives.

Some days, the sun does not shine through the cloud

Enlightenment

It's the Vesak celebration.

Without much understanding of what this Buddhist holy day is all about, I spent some time at a Tibetan Buddhist temple.

There is much we need to learn about the beliefs of others.
That first step towards understanding begins with the willingness to learn about others.

That, in itself, I believe is the first step towards enlightenment.i

Moonlight over Life

The years pass.

The moon watches.

Between Moments

In the quiet of the early morning hours, 

I reach into the crack of time

 between

 the rising of the sun and the setting of the moon.

Life is a transition,

a constant transition,

between 

the certainty of yesterday gone and

the promise and hope and fear

of a tomorrow to come.

Windows and Walls

 

Walls keep us safe from the world outside.
Walls keep the world outside from reaching out to us.

Windows give us a view of what is out there.
Windows allow others to see our lives.

Vows Made

Once again, the season for weddings, once again the vows.

Those words uttered that day, the promises made - they are harder to keep than one imagines.

 

Life as the Years Go By

In the quiet corner of a church, one reflects on life.

 

Over the years as one ages, there are more questions than answers we find.

 

And some questions never get answered.

Life and Death

 

We live in a juxtaposed world. Life and Death co-existed in contention.

Old and New alike share the space around.

We try to separate the two but deep in our hearts, we know that Life and Death are indeed partners in the cycle of the way things are.



Breath of Fresh

Little flowers decorate the wedding venue. It's spring time and the rebirth of life.

What colors bring to our lives as we venture into another year of unknowns and expectations, trepidations and anticipations.

We wonder what lies ahead of us as we leave the familiar behind.

We worry that the challenges in front of us may be insurmountable.

We worry unnecessarily.
